The Beyond Within: Post-Cinematic Possibilities of Play and Action
Paperback – August 1, 2013 | 266 Pages | ISBN here* | ISBN here*
This book is a work about art, cinema, and philosophy, in participation with the realm of the social. It is about a type of art that is cinematic and also about a cinema that is philosophical, as in being a ground for thought. It attempts to theorize and figure out a space of social and cultural resistance in terms of cinema and video art. It is a project that aims to create a space of dynamic tension, to articulate modes of the libidinal economy in terms of resistance and towards an attempted political and esthetic sovereignty. It is also an attempt to create an ontological basis for artistic intervention, using theoretical constructs based on Lyotard, Deleuze, and Whitehead, in a dynamic relationship with select works of Yoko Ono, Vito Acconci, and Chris Marker.
